Celebrations – Silver Jubilee

The school, established in 1981, will be completing 25 years of noble service to the student fraternity, from both far and near in 2005 and to celebrate this most important milestone in its history, many commemorative programmes have been planned.

The Red Panda – The Silver Jubilee Mascot for WPS

The Red Panda (Genus:Ailurus Fulgens), also known as the “Fire Cat”, has gained admirable and remarkable reputation for its agility in its arboreal habitat and tenacity not only to survive but to propagate in a fast changing and brutal environment.

Breaking free from its label of “endangered species”, the present population has reached an unexpected figure of 2500.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling, has been the torch bearer in its unflagging endeavours to conserve and breed successfully this lovable and cuddly resident of bamboo groves.

In order to acknowledge and salute the laudable and universally acclaimed achievement if this local zoo and recognize the unique traits of qualities of the Red Panda, West Point School feels proud to use it as the symbol in its Silver Jubilee Celebrations.

Silver Jubilee Celebration Programme

Briefly, celebration will kick start right from March when the school opens culminating in a three-day function in October.

The following are the highlights of the Jubilee Celebrations:

First Day (3rd Oct)

• Inauguration
• Speech by Guest Speakers
• Fun Fare (1 – 4 p.m.)
• Jubilee Prince and Princess Contest
• Fellowship

Second Day (4th Oct)

• Past, Present and Future (A Cultural Extravaganza)
• Release of Special Issue of School Magazine
• Release of Mr. Bhupendra Rai’s Cassette
• Fellowship

Third Day (5th Oct)

• A Day to Remember (Musical and Cultural Presentation by students/Guest Artistes)
• Sale of Memorabilia
• Fellowship
• Valediction

Therefore, all ex students, including the 2005 ICSE Batch, ex-teachers and any well-wishers, are cordially invited to attend the celebrations. To enable the organizers to make necessary arrangements, those attending the functions, are required to fill up the REGISTRATION FORM given below and submit latest by 15th Sep 2005.
